Information

Cyrtochilum angustatum

A species from the cloud forests of South America, producing long, branching inflorescences with numerous small, star-shaped flowers arranged along wiry, arching stems. The narrow, strap-like sepals and petals are strongly recurved and twisted, with a small, well-defined lip at the center framed by prominent, warty calli.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid direct midday sun, which can scorch the thin, strap-like leaves.
  • Temperature: 55–72°F (13–22°C); an intermediate to cool grower that benefits from a moderate temperature drop at night.
  • Humidity: 60–80%; moderate to high humidity supports healthy pseudobulb development and consistent blooming along the long inflorescences.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the medium to approach dryness between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the roots.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a coarse bark-based mix or mounted to accommodate its long, climbing inflorescences and active root system. Shipped bare root and well established.
