Information

Description

Description

A remarkable miniature epiphyte from the montane forests of New Guinea, producing solitary flowers with dramatically elongated lateral sepals that taper into long, thread-like tentacular filaments. The petals bear densely fringed, ciliate margins — an extraordinary floral architecture that makes this species instantly recognizable among collectors.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–60% shade cloth; avoid direct sun to protect the delicate foliage.
  • Temperature: 60–80°F (15–27°C); a warm to intermediate grower with a minimum tolerance around 55°F (13°C).
  • Humidity: 75–90%; high humidity is essential — pair with strong air movement to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Keep roots consistently moist but never waterlogged; water frequently with excellent drainage and airflow.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork or tree fern, or in a small net pot with fine sphagnum moss. Ships bare root, well established.
