Information

Description

Description

This rare epiphytic aroid is distinguished by its heavily bullate, dark green leaves that possess a deeply rugose and leathery texture. It stands out due to the dense, hair-like scales covering its petioles, which provide a unique tactile and visual appeal for specialized collectors of tropical foliage.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light. Direct sun exposure must be avoided as it causes irreversible damage to the textured leaf surface.
  • Temperature: 59-77°F (15-25°C). Avoid temperatures above 82°F (28°C) for extended periods and protect strictly from frost or cold drafts.
  • Humidity: High levels, consistently above 70-80%. Requires a stable environment with high moisture to prevent the leaf margins from browning and to support new growth.
  • Watering: Substrate must remain damp but airy. Water when the surface begins to feel dry, ensuring the use of a highly porous mix to prevent water stagnation around the roots.

Additional notes

This plant is particularly sensitive to low humidity and chemical buildup, so the use of rainwater or distilled water is highly recommended. It grows best in a chunky mix of sphagnum moss, perlite, and orchid bark to allow maximum oxygenation to the root system.
