Alocasia macrorrhizos

Alocasia macrorrhizos is one of the most iconic and impressive tropical plants in the world, commonly known as the Giant Taro or Elephant Ear. Native to the tropical forests of Southeast Asia and the Pacific, this intermediate-growing species from the Araceae family was first described by (L.) G.Don and published in R.Sweet, Hort. Brit., ed. 3: 631 (1839). It is celebrated for its enormous, glossy, upward-facing arrow-shaped leaves that can reach extraordinary sizes in ideal conditions, creating a bold, architectural tropical statement unlike any other houseplant or garden specimen.
