Information

Description

Description

A robust epiphyte native to the cloud forests of Ecuador, producing spikes with large, showy flowers of striking presence. The elongated, linear-lanceolate sepals and petals bear bold, irregular maculate spotting with a gently undulate margin, while the very prominent and wide trilobed lip features a densely fringed bilobed frontal lobe, a spotted central callus, and a contrasting yellow column cap.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–65% shade cloth; avoid direct midday sun, which can stress the long, narrow foliage.
  • Temperature: 50–68°F (10–20°C); a cool grower that thrives with distinct seasonal temperature variation and consistent air movement.
  • Humidity: 65–85%; high ambient moisture supports vigorous pseudobulb development and the production of large, well-formed flowers.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the medium to approach dryness between waterings; never allow roots to sit in standing water.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a medium bark mix with excellent drainage and good airflow around the roots. Plants are shipped bare root, well established, and ready to adapt quickly to their new growing environment.
