Description

Description

An elegantly structured species from the cloud forests of South America, producing solitary flowers on slender, upright scapes from the base of compact pseudobulbs. The bloom is architecturally striking, with a tall, sharply pointed erect dorsal sepal, broad lateral sepals that sweep outward and downward, small flanking petals, and a compact, dark lip beneath a prominent column — a refined and dramatic silhouette characteristic of the Mormolyca alliance.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–60% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can stress the upright, strap-like foliage.
  • Temperature: 57–79°F (14–26°C); an intermediate-warm grower that adapts well to stable indoor conditions with good air movement.
  • Humidity: 65–80%; consistent humidity is essential for healthy root development and prolific blooming.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to partially dry between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the root zone.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a well-draining bark or sphagnum mix in a small to medium pot. A refined collector's species prized for its elegant, architectural flower form. Shipped bare root in well-established condition.
