An exceptionally floriferous hybrid of Masd. ayabacana × Masd. coccinea, producing an impressive flush of simultaneous blooms on independent erect scapes above a compact rosette of narrow, lanceolate leaves. The cucullate flowers inherit the large, inflated hood of coccinea and the prolific blooming habit of ayabacana, with long expressive tails and a vivid contrasting lip in the frontal aperture.
Additional Notes
Best grown in a fine bark or sphagnum moss mix in a small plastic or net pot with excellent drainage. Ships bare root and well-established, with a healthy root system ready to settle into its new home.
Good quality plant as usual from Ecuagenera. I had another named selection that I had trouble with rot so I got this plant. Since my named selection plant did better over the summer, I suspected it needed a warmer environment so I sent my Ecuagenera plant to a friend in San Francisco. I hope I don't regret that decision and he gets a nice orchid. Worst comes to worst, I'll buy another from Ecuagenera!
Very very healthy plant
very healthy looking
Bought this in memory of my father-in-law who always wanted to go to Machu Pichu. The plant arrived healthy, albeit a little stressed. It bounced back quickly and is showing signs of new growth with no leaf loss. Well packed!
