Description

Description

This orchid is a miniature to small species that grows as an epiphyte or lithophyte on forest margins in China, Myanmar, and Thailand, at elevations of 200 to 2000 meters. Its pseudobulbs are ovoid and tetragonal, connected by a creeping rhizome.

  • Light: It requires partial shade. Ensure it receives bright, indirect light for proper growth and flowering.
  • Temperature: It is considered a hot to cool growing orchid. A suitable daytime temperature range is 68-86°F (20-30°C), with a nocturnal drop.
  • Humidity: It generally requires medium to high humidity levels, ideally between 50% and 70%, to simulate its forest habitat.
  • Watering: It requires frequent watering and fertilization. It should be grown in an open, well-draining medium; the substrate should not dry out completely between waterings.

Additional Notes

The most distinctive characteristic of this species is its flowers, which can be large relative to the plant's size, reaching 6 inches (9 to 15 cm) long. It is crucial to use a well-aerated and open growing medium, along with frequent watering and fertilization.
