Information

Description

Description

An epiphytic species native to the cloud forests of Ecuador, immediately recognizable by its highly distinctive thick, fleshy, articulated rachis from which small flowers emerge directly at each node, each with small sepals and petals and a rounded bilobed lip. Its unusual, architecturally bold inflorescence structure sets it apart as one of the most botanically distinctive species in the genus.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can scorch the foliage.
  • Temperature: 50–70°F (10–21°C); thrives as an intermediate-cool grower and benefits from cooler nighttime temperatures to encourage blooming.
  • Humidity: 60–80%; consistent humidity supports healthy pseudobulb development and root activity.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to approach dryness between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the roots.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a well-draining bark-based mix in a pot or basket in a cool, well-ventilated environment. Plants are shipped bare root, well established, and ready to adapt to your growing conditions.
