Information

Description

Description

A large, multi-growth specimen of this compact sympodial orchid from the cloud forests of Ecuador, with well-developed pseudobulbs, fleshy elliptic leaves, and an established root system ready to bloom. In flower, it produces short racemes with broad, rounded sepals and a large bell-shaped cucullate lip with a velvety, iridescent surface.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–60% shade cloth; avoid direct midday sun, which can scorch the foliage.
  • Temperature: 55–72°F (13–22°C); an intermediate grower that thrives with stable temperatures and good air circulation.
  • Humidity: 70–85%; consistent humidity supports healthy pseudobulb development and reliable flowering.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the substrate to approach dryness between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the roots.

Additional Notes

A large, well-established specimen offering immediate visual impact and a shorter wait to first bloom. Best grown in a fine, well-draining bark-based mix or mounted on cork. Ships bare root, well-established.
