Information

Description

Description

A miniature to compact species from the montane forests of the Philippines, prized for its clusters of intensely violet-blue flowers — among the most vivid in the genus. It grows as an epiphyte on mossy branches at high elevation, producing cane-like pseudobulbs with a pendulous to semi-erect habit.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–50% shade cloth; good light promotes prolific blooming.
  • Temperature: 50–72°F (10–22°C). Cool to intermediate grower; cool nights are essential to trigger flowering.
  • Humidity: 70–85%; mist regularly and ensure strong air movement to replicate its cloud forest habitat.
  • Watering: Water freely during active growth; reduce significantly in winter to encourage blooming. Never let roots sit in standing water.

Additional Notes

Best mounted on cork or tree fern, or grown in a small basket with a very open mix. Ships bare root, well-established (15–20cm). Grown at Ecuagenera, Ecuador.
