Information

Description

Description

A spectacular trailing epiphyte from the cloud forests of the Americas, with densely hairy stems and small, dark purplish-bronze leaves that are ornamental even without flowers. When in bloom, vivid tubular flowers emerge from every leaf axil along the length of the stem — a hummingbird-pollinated display of extraordinary intensity.

  • Light: Bright indirect light; avoid direct sun. Consistent bright diffused light promotes the most prolific blooming along the stems.
  • Temperature: 60–80°F (15–27°C) — Intermediate to Cool grower. Prefers stable, mild temperatures with good air movement.
  • Humidity: 60–80%; high humidity keeps the foliage and trichomes healthy. Avoid wetting the leaves directly — water droplets on the dense hairs can cause spotting.
  • Watering: Keep the substrate evenly moist but never waterlogged. Allow the surface to dry slightly between waterings. Use soft, low-mineral water when possible.

Additional Notes

Ideal for hanging baskets where the trailing stems can cascade freely. Best grown in a light, well-draining mix of perlite and sphagnum or fine bark. Ships well-established and actively growing.
