Information

Cattleya maxima 'Didier'

A select and highly coveted clone native to Ecuador, prized for its exceptionally intense, deep floral coloration and vigorous upright growth. This choice cultivar produces robust, erect inflorescences from mature pseudobulbs, bearing an impressive canopy of large, intensely saturated, fragrant blossoms with beautifully ruffled petals and striking lip venation.

  • Light: Bright indirect light or filtered morning sun; provide a 40–50% shade cloth to protect the foliage from scorching.
  • Temperature: 59–86Β°F (15–30Β°C); a versatile intermediate to warm grower that thrives with a distinct day-to-night drop.
  • Humidity: 60–80%; high humidity along with continuous, gentle air movement prevents stagnant moisture on the leaves.
  • Watering: Water heavily during active growth and allow the medium to dry almost completely between applications; reduce frequency during winter rest.

Additional Notes

Mounting on a large cork plaque or potting in a coarse, well-draining bark mixture will perfectly accommodate its robust growth habit and showy 5-inch (12.5 cm) flowers. Ships bare root and should be thoroughly rehydrated at an intermediate temperature before being potted or mounted upon arrival.
