Information

Description

Description

A spectacular fragrant epiphyte from the montane forests of New Guinea, bearing large solitary flowers with an exceptionally elongated dorsal sepal tapering into a long, fine tail, and sweeping lateral sepals that curve downward in a broad arc. A small contrasting labelo at the center completes a floral silhouette that is among the most dramatic in the genus.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid harsh direct sun to protect the foliage.
  • Temperature: 58–78°F (14–26°C); an intermediate grower with a minimum tolerance around 55°F (13°C).
  • Humidity: 75–90%; maintain high humidity with strong air movement to keep roots and foliage healthy.
  • Watering: Keep roots consistently moist but never waterlogged; water frequently with excellent drainage and airflow.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork or tree fern to accommodate its creeping rhizome and ensure optimal airflow at the roots. Ships bare root, well established.
