Description

Description

An intermediate to warm-growing epiphyte from the montane forests of Southeast Asia, producing solitary flowers of striking sculptural form. A long, upward-curving dorsal sepal tapers to a fine point, while two extraordinarily elongated lateral sepals hang vertically as narrow, ribbon-like pendants. The small lateral petals frame a prominently dark, densely pubescent labelo — an asymmetric and architecturally bold floral silhouette that makes this subspecies a standout collector’s specimen.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid direct sun to protect the foliage.
  • Temperature: 60–82°F (15–28°C); an intermediate to warm grower with a minimum tolerance around 55°F (13°C).
  • Humidity: 70–85%; maintain high humidity with strong air movement to keep roots healthy.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to approach dryness between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the roots.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork or tree fern to allow the pendant lateral sepals to hang freely and ensure optimal airflow at the roots. Ships bare root, well established.
