Description

Description

A climbing species native to the cloud forests of Ecuador, prized for its large, sagittate-cordiform leaves with well-defined basal lobes, a prominent midrib, and bold secondary venation over a semi-leathery, lightly lustrous surface. Offered here as a medium-sized, actively growing specimen with visible aerial roots.

  • Light: Bright filtered light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid strong direct sunlight, which can scorch the large leaf surface.
  • Temperature: 59–79°F (15–26°C); an intermediate grower well-suited to cool-intermediate conditions, protected from temperatures below 50°F (10°C).
  • Humidity: 70–90%; high humidity is essential to support vigorous growth and the development of its characteristic aerial root system.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly when the top inch of substrate feels dry; avoid waterlogging while keeping the aerial roots lightly misted to encourage attachment.

Additional Notes

Grows best in a chunky, well-draining aroid mix of bark, perlite, and coco coir; provide a sturdy moss pole or totem to support the vigorous climbing habit and encourage larger leaf development at maturity. Ships well-established in its pot — ready to grow in your home or greenhouse.
