Description

Description

This stunning "Jewel Alocasia," sometimes known as Alocasia longiloba 'Watsoniana', is native to Borneo and prized for its highly dramatic, sculptural foliage.

  • Light: Bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight which can scorch leaves.
  • Temperature: 65-85°F (18-29°C). Keep away from cold drafts and temperatures below 60°F (15°C).
  • Humidity: High (60%+). Use a humidifier or place in naturally humid areas to prevent brown leaf edges.
  • Watering: Keep evenly moist. Let top 1-2 inches dry before watering. Avoid standing water to prevent root rot.
  • Note: This plant is toxic if ingested and should be kept away from pets and children.

Additional Notes

Known for its large, shield-shaped leaves that grow in an upright, clumping habit. The leaves are a glossy, deep forest green (sometimes with a velvety texture) and feature striking, silvery-white veins that create a bold contrast. The undersides of the leaves are often a rich dark purple or red.
