This extraordinary aroid is a climbing species of Philodendron known for its serpentine growth pattern and exceptional adaptability, resulting in a plant famous for its exceptional potential for leaf development and its remarkable ability to transform as it matures into a climbing specimen.
Additional Notes
The natural characteristics of this species show the remarkable transformation from simple juvenile leaves to the complex forms of mature foliage, demonstrating the fascinating metamorphosis of climbing philodendrons.
One plant arrived a week ago and two more four weeks ago. They all arrived in perfect shape, no leaf damages, very well developed root systems and no rot at all! So I waited for them to acclimatize before writing this review. This was easily done, all establishing well and recently mounted together on a moss pole kept slightly moist they are really thriving. One leaf already developed and two more on the way! This plant is SO underrated with its extremely shaggy petioles and horizontally growing triangular leafs! Hard to find in Europe therefore I was so happy finding it here. This is the second time ordering from Ecuador and both times such wonderful experiences: very kind sales support, professional and rapid to answer. Cannot do otherwise than highly recommend Ecuagenera Ecuador!! No pests, all high quality plants and me so happy!!
Arrived in very good shape and size. I could not be happier
Wow, this plant arrived in great condition! I had paid for xpress shipping so it arrived looking wonderful. Had three leafs with fourth unfurling. Big roots! It was definitely a great buy.
Thank you so much, Lakshmi! We’re thrilled to hear your Philodendron serpens arrived in excellent condition and that the express shipping made a difference. Three leaves and one unfurling — that’s always exciting!
We’re glad to know you’re happy with your purchase, and we truly appreciate your trust in Ecuagenera. Enjoy your new plant and its amazing roots!
Warm regards,

Died right away
For reference, I’m in Canada and picked this up at a trade show in August 2024. I bought two because I read the reviews and knew it’s a a tough plant to import. Absolutely beautiful leaves, thick stem, and pest and disease free when I got it, took one day for leaves to start going yellow (had one in water and one in pon) one in water did better, one in pon died faster. Eventually both were just the stem so I cut them up and tried with about 6 wet sticks. One survived and currently growing in pon on a pole and working on its 3rd leaf (February 2025), there is one stick in water that has a single root growing but is still not dead but also not sprouted.
Conditions are about 20 degrees Celsius, 40% humidity, infront of grow light in semi hydro (pon)
