Maxillaria lutescens

A robust and floriferous species from the cloud forests of Ecuador, bearing large, waxy flowers singly on short scapes from the base of well-developed pseudobulbs. The blooms are broad and rounded with overlapping tepals and a prominent, cupped lip with a vivid yellow callus.

• Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid harsh direct sun, which can bleach the foliage.
• Temperature: 57–79°F (14–26°C); an intermediate-warm grower that adapts well to stable indoor conditions.
• Humidity: 60–80%; benefits from consistent humidity with good air circulation to keep roots healthy.
• Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to partially dry between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the root zone.
