An intermediate-growing epiphyte from the montane forests of Southeast Asia, producing large solitary flowers with a broad, forward-curving hooded dorsal sepal, robust fused lateral sepals forming a deep concave structure with strong longitudinal veining, and a conspicuously pubescent, hairy labelo — an architectural floral form that evokes the open jaw suggested by the species name.

• Temperature: 58–78°F (14–26°C); an intermediate grower with a minimum tolerance around 55°F (13°C).
• Humidity: 70–85%; maintain consistent humidity with good air circulation to keep roots healthy.
• Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to approach dryness between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the roots.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a basket or mounted on cork with a coarse bark mix for excellent drainage and airflow. Ships bare root, well established.
