Epidendrum serpens

A miniature creeping epiphyte endemic to the cloud forests of Ecuador, forming dense mats of slender, succulent-leaved stems with small, terete leaves arranged alternately. Short apical clusters of 2–3 flowers emerge from the stem tips, displaying notable color variability — from pale cream with a vivid yellow bilobed lip to deep purple with a contrasting yellow-green throat.

• Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can stress the compact, mat-forming stems.
• Temperature: 45–65°F (7–18°C); a cool grower that thrives with cool nights and consistent air movement.
• Humidity: 70–85%; consistent moisture around the roots is essential given the creeping, mat-forming habit.
• Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the medium to approach dryness between waterings; avoid prolonged dryness, which can cause the succulent leaves to shrivel.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork or tree fern to accommodate its creeping habit, or in a shallow, very open bark mix. Flower color may vary between individuals. Plants are shipped bare root and well established, ready to adapt quickly to their new growing environment.
