Information

Description

Description

A vigorous reed-stem epiphyte endemic to the cloud forests of Ecuador, producing densely branched panicles of numerous flowers with extraordinarily elongated, narrow, pendant sepals and petals with curved tips, alongside a small, bilobed white lip that contrasts sharply with the rest of the flower. The dramatic, spider-like floral architecture makes this one of the most architecturally striking species in the genus.

  • Light: Bright indirect to moderate direct light with 30–50% shade cloth; more light encourages the production of large, well-branched panicles.
  • Temperature: 57–78°F (14–26°C); an intermediate-warm grower that adapts well to stable warm conditions with moderate night temperature drops.
  • Humidity: 65–85%; good air movement around the stems and roots helps prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the medium to approach dryness between waterings; avoid standing water at the roots.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a well-draining bark-based mix with sturdy support for the large, branched panicles. Plants are shipped bare root and well established, ready to adapt quickly to their new growing environment.
