Oncidium

**オンシジウムは、その姿からよく「ダンシング・レディ・オーキッド（踊る貴婦人の蘭）」と呼ばれ、豊かに広がる小ぶりで精巧な花々が、ふんわりと揺れるスカートを履いた踊り子のように見えることで知られる、活気にあふれた華やかな属です。中南米の熱帯雨林から高地の霧林（むりん）まで、幅広い生息地に自生しています。これらの蘭は、通常、高く枝分かれした花序を伸ばし、黄色、ブロンズ色、赤、ピンク、白といったまばゆい色彩の花を密に咲かせ、しばしば対照的な斑点や模様で彩られます。特徴的な唇弁**は通常大きく、フリルのようになっており、生き生きとしたダイナミックな外観を際立たせています。多くの原種や交配種は芳香も素晴らしく、甘く、時にはスパイシーな香りで空気を満たしてくれます。
