Information

Description

Description

This miniature epiphyte, native to New Guinea, grows in lower montane forests across a wide elevation range (450 to 2400 meters). It features small, conical-cylindrical pseudobulbs spaced on a creeping rhizome, each carrying a single apical leaf. It is a very small plant best grown mounted or in small baskets.

  • Light: Requires moderate to bright, filtered light. Avoiding direct, harsh sun which can scorch the foliage.
  • Temperature: Classified as an intermediate to warm-growing species. Maintain a range of 60-90°F (16-32°C). Cooler night temperatures are beneficial for flowering.
  • Humidity: High humidity is critical, ideally 60% to 80% or more. Constant and strong air circulation must be provided to prevent disease in moist conditions.
  • Watering: Water liberally and frequently, ensuring the potting medium remains perpetually moist but not waterlogged. The small root system should not be allowed to dry out completely.

Additional Notes

It produces small, solitary flowers. The sepals are typically white with red stripes, the petals are white with two red spots, and the lip is white with red spots and a snow-white apex.
