This is a miniature, unifoliate (single-leafed), cool-growing epiphyte, native to the Philippines. It is a compact species valued for its unusual floral presentation. It is suitable for cultivation in terrariums or mounted on sphagnum moss.
This orchid is known for its clustered (capitate) inflorescence that looks like a 'head' of flowers, from which it gets its name. It produces small, often fragrant flowers arranged closely together.
Plant had more shriveled psuedobulbs than I would have liked, but it was a very good size plant, and nothing I can’t handle. It has started growing new roots, and will recover just fine.
