Description

Description

This is a charming miniature epiphyte native to the dry tropical cloud forests of Ecuador and Peru. Highly valued by collectors for its small size and profuse display of fragrant flowers.

  • Light: Moderate, bright indirect light is best. Protect it from direct, harsh midday sun, which can easily scorch the small leaves.
  • Temperature: A hot-to-warm growing species. It prefers consistent warmth throughout the year, thriving in daytime temperatures of 68-86°F (20-30°C).
  • Humidity: Moderate to high humidity (50-70%). Due to its miniature size and fine root system, high humidity is key, but it must be paired with excellent air movement to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly, but allow the potting medium (or mount) to become nearly dry before watering again. Ensure perfect drainage, as standing water will quickly lead to root rot. A wet/dry cycle is preferred year-round.

Additional Notes

The miniature flowers (about 1.4"/3cm) are produced on short, axillary spikes, typically holding 2 to 5 blooms. The compact size makes it perfect for terrariums, small growing spaces or mounted cultivation.
