Information

Description

Description

A striking hybrid between Pths. titan and Pths. marthae, combining the broad, rounded dorsal sepal and inflated pouch-like lip of its parents with wide, spreading lateral petals. The compact, symmetrical flowers are produced in pairs on short inflorescences nestled among the broad, fleshy leaves.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can scorch the broad, soft leaves.
  • Temperature: 50–68°F (10–20°C); a cool to intermediate grower with a minimum tolerance around 45°F (7°C). Cool nights promote consistent blooming.
  • Humidity: 75–90%; maintain consistently high humidity with good air movement to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Water frequently to keep the root zone evenly moist; avoid prolonged drying between waterings, as this genus dislikes drought stress.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a small pot or basket with a fine, moisture-retentive mix (sphagnum or fine bark). Thrives under cool, humid conditions typical of high-altitude Andean cloud forests. Shipped bare root, well-established.
