Information

Description

Description

A graceful species native to the cloud forests of Ecuador, producing flowers along a narrow, fleshy leaf. The free lateral sepals elongate and curve backward into slender tails, while a rounded dorsal sepal forms a neat hood over a small lip with a contrasting spot — an elegant, spider-like silhouette of refined detail.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can stress the narrow, succulent-textured leaves.
  • Temperature: 50–68°F (10–20°C); a cool to intermediate grower with a minimum tolerance around 45°F (7°C). Cool nights encourage consistent blooming.
  • Humidity: 75–90%; maintain consistently high humidity with good air movement to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Water frequently to keep the root zone evenly moist; avoid prolonged dry periods between waterings.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a small pot with sphagnum or fine bark, or mounted on cork. Thrives under cool, humid conditions typical of high-altitude Ecuadorian cloud forests. Shipped bare root, well-established.
