Description

Description

This is a prized climbing Aroid native to the rainforests of Colombia and Ecuador. Its main feature is its winged and undulated (wavy) petioles (leaf stems), which often develop a red-ruffled appearance as the plant matures. The leaves are glossy, elongated, and deep green.

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. While it can tolerate medium light, growth will be slower. Avoid direct, harsh sun which can scorch the leaves.
  • Temperature: Thrives in average room temperatures, ideally a range of 68-77°F (20-25°C). Protect it from cold drafts and temperatures below 55°F (13°C).
  • Humidity: Requires moderate to high humidity, ideally 60% or higher, to prevent brown leaf tips and encourage vigorous growth. Consider using a humidifier or grouping it with other plants.
  • Watering: Water moderately when the top 1-2 inches (2-3 cm) of the soil feel dry to the touch. Use a light, well-draining aroid mix and ensure the pot has good drainage to prevent overwatering.

Additional Notes

This is an active climber that thrives with moss pole support, producing larger leaves and distinctive winged petioles. Keep away from pets and children, as it is toxic if ingested.
