Information

Description

Description

A remarkable species known for its clustered flowering habit, where multiple blooms emerge in dense groups creating a spectacular display of color. The flowers feature broad sepals with short tails and a compact plant structure that makes it particularly suitable for small collections or terrarium environments.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50-70% shade cloth; direct sun will scorch the leaves.
  • Temperature: Cool grower. Daytime 59-72°F (15-22°C), nighttime 50-59°F (10-15°C). A pronounced 10-15°F temperature differential encourages abundant flowering.
  • Humidity: 70-85% with strong air circulation; achieve through humidity trays, humidifiers, or greenhouse conditions.
  • Watering: Keep consistently moist year-round; mounted specimens benefit from daily misting, potted plants require watering every 2-3 days.

Additional Notes

Native to Ecuador at 2,400-3,200 meters elevation. Performs well mounted on tree fern or cork bark, or potted in fine bark mix with sphagnum moss.
