Information

Description

Description

An eye-catching species characterized by its distinctive glandular hairs covering the sepals, creating a unique textured appearance that sets it apart from other Masdevallias.

  • Light: Bright shade with 50-70% filtration; avoid direct sunlight which can damage the delicate foliage.
  • Temperature: Cool grower. Daytime 59-72°F (15-22°C), nighttime 50-59°F (10-15°C). Benefits from a 10-15°F day-night temperature drop for optimal growth.
  • Humidity: 70-85% with excellent air movement; use humidity trays, humidifiers, or enclosed growing environments.
  • Watering: Maintain consistent moisture throughout the year; mounted plants require daily misting, while potted specimens need watering every 2-3 days.

Additional Notes

Native to Ecuador and Colombia at 2,000-3,000 meters elevation. Thrives when mounted on tree fern or cork bark, or grown in small pots with fine bark mix or live sphagnum moss.
