Information

Cattleya walkeriana f. coerulea 'Ecuagenera'

A highly coveted blue-toned form of this iconic dwarf species native to the seasonally dry forests of South America, with the 'Ecuagenera' clone representing a premier selection with exceptional form. This compact epiphyte produces short, bulbous pseudobulbs that exhibit a unique blooming habit, yielding specialized flowering stems directly from the rhizome that carry remarkably flat, sweet-scented flowers.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can stress the compact foliage.
  • Temperature: 59–86°F (15–30°C); an adaptable intermediate grower that benefits from a distinct night temperature drop.
  • Humidity: 60–80%; consistent humidity encourages vigorous growth and prolific flowering.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to approach dryness between waterings; never allow the roots to remain waterlogged.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a coarse, fast-draining medium or mounted on a plaque to accommodate its creeping rhizome and ensure maximum root aeration. Ships bare root, well established, and ready to be rehydrated at an intermediate temperature and promptly potted upon receipt.
