Information

Cattleya schroederae

An elegant species from the tropical forests of South America, widely admired for its beautifully ruffled floral parts and sweet, almond-like fragrance. This stately epiphyte features upright, cylindrical pseudobulbs that produce a striking display of large, long-lasting flowers clustered beautifully close to the foliage.

  • Light: Bright indirect light or filtered sunlight with 40-60% shade cloth; avoid direct midday sun to protect the upright leaves.
  • Temperature: 59-86°F (15-30°C); an adaptable grower that benefits from warm daytime conditions and a slight temperature drop at night.
  • Humidity: 60-80%; consistent atmospheric humidity supports robust new growth and a healthy root network.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly when actively growing and allow the potting medium to dry between applications; minimize watering during its winter rest.

Additional Notes

This medium-sized plant produces magnificent, heavily crisped flowers and performs exceptionally well in a coarse, fast-draining bark mix. Ships bare root, well-established, and ready to be rehydrated at an intermediate temperature and promptly potted upon receipt.
