Information

Cattleya briegeri

A striking mini-miniature species from the rocky, montane regions of South America, characterized by its upright, cylindrical pseudobulbs and thick, rigid foliage. The star-shaped blooms emerge in late spring on tall, erect inflorescences that carry several tightly clustered flowers well above the compact plant, making it a highly vibrant addition to any orchid collection.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–50% shade cloth; it benefits from high light levels to maintain its compact growth form.
  • Temperature: 55–82°F (13–28°C); a resilient intermediate to warm grower that thrives with a distinct temperature drop at night.
  • Humidity: 60–75%; requires excellent air movement coupled with stable atmospheric moisture to support steady root development.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly when active and ensure the fast-draining medium dries rapidly between applications; minimize watering during the winter rest.

Additional Notes

Best cultivated mounted on cork bark or potted in a shallow clay container filled with a coarse, inorganic rock or gravel medium to mimic its natural lithophytic habitat. Ships bare root, well established, and ready to be rehydrated and potted or mounted immediately upon arrival.
