Anthurium villenaorum (Big)

A highly sought foliage species from the Andean cloud forests of South America, distinguished by its large, deeply cordate leaves with a rich velvety texture and a striking network of pale, contrasting secondary venation. It grows as a terrestrial to hemiepiphytic aroid with an upright, sculptural habit.

• Light: Bright indirect light with up to 70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can bleach the velvety surface and cause irreversible leaf damage.
• Temperature: 62–80°F (17–27°C); a warm tropical grower that appreciates stable warmth and good air movement. Avoid temperatures below 58°F (14°C).
• Humidity: 70–90%; high humidity is essential to maintain the velvety leaf texture and support healthy new growth.
• Watering: Water thoroughly when the top of the mix begins to dry; never allow roots to sit in saturated media or dry out completely.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a chunky, well-draining aroid mix with perlite or orchid bark for excellent root aeration. Shipped bare root and well-established at approximately 40 cm; plant promptly upon arrival and water generously to rehydrate the roots.
