Description

Description

A striking species native to Ecuador, presenting compact, small-scale growth with fleshy leaves and short, apical inflorescences. Each single-flowered bloom stands out with an incredibly intricate, wide lip and a fuzzy column that beautifully mimics an insect to capture immediate attention.

  • Light: Medium to bright indirect light with 50–60% shade; avoid direct sunlight completely to prevent tissue burn on the delicate foliage.
  • Temperature: 50–75°F (10–24°C); thrives under cool to intermediate conditions with significant day-to-night drops.
  • Humidity: 70–90%; requires high and constant atmospheric humidity combined with excellent air circulation to thrive.
  • Watering: Keep consistently moist, watering regularly to never let the root system dry out completely while maintaining perfect drainage.

Additional Notes

Mounting on a cork slab or a loose branch allows its aerial roots to grow completely unconfined, perfectly matching its natural habit. Ships bare root, well-established, and should be gently rehydrated at an intermediate temperature before final potting or mounting upon arrival.
