Information

Description

Description

A robust epiphyte native to the cloud forests of Ecuador, producing spikes with several medium to large flowers. The very elongated, linear-lanceolate sepals and petals curve gracefully backward and are densely covered in bold, irregular maculate spotting, while the trilobed lip features a bilobed frontal lobe with an undulate margin and a prominent white central callus flanked by a visible white column.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid direct midday sun, which can stress the long lanceolate foliage.
  • Temperature: 57–75°F (14–24°C); an intermediate grower that benefits from a slight nighttime temperature drop to encourage spike initiation.
  • Humidity: 60–80%; consistent moisture supports vigorous pseudobulb development and reliable flowering.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the medium to approach dryness between waterings; never allow roots to sit in standing water.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a medium bark mix with good drainage and airflow around the roots. Plants are shipped bare root, well established, and ready to adapt quickly to their new growing environment.
