Description

Description

A stunning species celebrated for its large, showy flowers with broad, overlapping sepals that form a distinctive triangular shape and vibrant coloration. The robust growth habit and reliable flowering make it an excellent choice for growers.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50-70% shade cloth; protect from direct sun to prevent leaf burn.
  • Temperature: Cool grower. Daytime 59-72°F (15-22°C), nighttime 50-59°F (10-15°C). A 10-15°F temperature differential between day and night promotes vigorous flowering.
  • Humidity: 70-85% with good air circulation; maintain through humidity trays, humidifiers, or greenhouse environments.
  • Watering: Keep evenly moist year-round; mounted plants need daily misting, potted specimens require watering every 2-3 days depending on medium.

Additional Notes

Native to Ecuador at 2,200-2,800 meters elevation. Grows well mounted on tree fern or cork bark, or potted in fine bark mix with sphagnum moss.
