Description

Description

A miniature species from the cloud forests of Ecuador, prized as much for its foliage as its flowers. The lanceolate leaves are densely covered in fine trichomes that give the upper surface a deep velvety texture, while small flowers emerge flush against the leaf blade with triangular sepals and compact contrasting petals and lip.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can scorch the delicate foliage.
  • Temperature: 45–65°F (7–18°C); a Cool grower that thrives with cool nights and consistent air movement.
  • Humidity: 80–95%; grow in a well-ventilated cool enclosure and mist frequently to prevent desiccation.
  • Watering: Keep roots consistently moist but never waterlogged; water daily when mounted, or every 1–2 days in fine sphagnum or bark mix.

Additional Notes

Its velvety foliage and compact size make it a standout specimen for terrarium or Wardian case cultivation with cooling. Best grown in a small net pot with fine sphagnum moss or mounted on cork. Ships bare root, well-established.
