Information

Description

Description

A compact creeping epiphyte endemic to the cloud forests of Ecuador, forming dense mounds of short, branching stems with small, oval, glossy leaves. Hundreds of pendant flowers bloom simultaneously across the entire plant, each displaying reflexed sepals, downward-curving petals, and a large, inflated, globose pendant lip that dominates the bloom, creating one of the most spectacular mass-flowering displays in the genus.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid direct midday sun to preserve the compact, mounding habit.
  • Temperature: 54–75°F (12–24°C); an intermediate grower that benefits from moderate temperature fluctuations between day and night.
  • Humidity: 65–85%; good air movement around the dense stems and roots helps prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the medium to approach dryness between waterings; avoid standing water at the roots.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a wooden basket or mounted on cork to accommodate its pendant flowering habit and allow the blooms to cascade freely. Plants are shipped bare root and well established, ready to adapt quickly to their new growing environment.
