Information

Description

Description

A compact sympodial orchid native to the cloud forests of Ecuador, producing arching, lax racemes with well-spaced small flowers featuring reflexed lanceolate sepals with acute tips, narrow petals, and a trilobed lip with pointed lateral lobes and a contrasting yellow callus. The broad, glossy lanceolate leaves and freely produced inflorescences make it an attractive species even outside of bloom.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–60% shade cloth; avoid direct midday sun, which can scorch the glossy foliage.
  • Temperature: 50–68°F (10–20°C); a cool grower that requires the cold nights characteristic of high Andean cloud forests to thrive and bloom reliably.
  • Humidity: 75–85%; high humidity supports healthy growth and consistent flowering.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the substrate to approach dryness between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the roots.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a fine, well-draining bark-based mix or mounted on cork. Ships bare root, well-established.
