This striking species from Ecuador produces tubular flowers with prominent sepals that taper into elongated tails. The blooms emerge on upright stems that extend above the compact foliage, creating an elegant display with successive flowering throughout the growing season.
Additional Notes
Named after the Condor mountain range in Ecuador where it was discovered, this species thrives in cool, humid conditions typical of cloud forest environments. Best grown mounted on tree fern or cork bark, or in small pots with fine-grade bark mix or sphagnum moss for optimal drainage and aeration.
The seedling was fine, but after I repotted it in sphagnum moss, most of the leaves fell off and now there are only four. I changed the planting material to bark + pumice. New leaves have appeared.
Thank you for your feedback, Toshikazu. We’re sorry to hear the plant initially experienced stress after repotting, but we’re very glad to know it has started producing new leaves and showing signs of recovery.
Your decision to switch to a bark and pumice mix sounds like it made a positive difference. We appreciate your care and persistence — and hope the plant continues to thrive in your setup. Thank you for choosing Ecuagenera.
