Information

Description

Description

A striking epiphyte from the cloud forests of South America, producing spikes with large, showy flowers. The broadly spreading, ovate sepals and petals have an undulate, irregular margin and are densely covered in bold, irregular maculate spotting, while the trilobed lip features a wide bilobed frontal lobe, a contrasting yellow central callus, and a prominent white column.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–65% shade cloth; avoid direct midday sun, which can stress the pseudobulbs and foliage.
  • Temperature: 50–68°F (10–20°C); a cool grower that thrives with distinct seasonal temperature variation and consistent air movement.
  • Humidity: 65–85%; high ambient moisture supports vigorous growth and encourages the production of large, well-formed flowers.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the medium to approach dryness between waterings; never allow roots to sit in standing water.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a medium bark mix with excellent drainage and good airflow around the roots. Plants are shipped bare root, well established, and ready to adapt quickly to their new growing environment.
