Information

Description

Description

A large and refined epiphyte native to Ecuador, producing solitary flowers of exceptional elegance on upright scapes among broad, lanceolate leaves. The wide, rounded, undulate sepals and petals frame a highly ornamental trilobed lip with brown-spotted lateral lobes and a fimbriate, papillose golden-yellow midlobe.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can scorch the broad foliage.
  • Temperature: 50–68°F (10–20°C); an intermediate-cool grower that benefits from cool nights and stable conditions.
  • Humidity: 65–85%; high humidity supports vigorous growth and the impressive solitary blooms.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to approach dryness between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the roots.

Additional Notes

Ships bare root and well-established — pot promptly upon arrival in a well-draining bark mix and water generously to rehydrate the roots. Best grown in a standard pot sized to accommodate its robust root system.
