Information

Description

Description

A truly remarkable creeping epiphyte from the Andean cloud forests, with dark purple-tinged stems and small bicolored lanceolate leaves. Globose, fleshy flowers are produced directly at the nodes along the stems, their concave sepals forming a tightly closed, urn-like structure with a glimpse of the yellow-orange lip at the opening — one of the most unusual blooms in the genus.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can stress the dark, creeping stems.
  • Temperature: 45–65°F (7–18°C); a cool grower that requires consistently low temperatures and good air movement.
  • Humidity: 70–90%; high humidity is essential for healthy stem and root development.
  • Watering: Keep the mix evenly moist without allowing it to dry out completely; avoid stagnant water at the roots.

Additional Notes

Ships bare root and well-established — best grown mounted on cork bark or tree fern to allow its creeping habit to develop naturally. Water generously upon arrival to rehydrate the roots.
