Description

Description

A distinctive miniature species from the cloud forests of the Caribbean, featuring pendulous, lanceolate leaves with a striking silvery-iridescent surface. The flowers emerge from the leaf axil and display three broad, ovate sepals forming a neat, compact star, with a well-defined contrasting labellum and petals at the center — borne on a characteristically nodding, arching rachis that gives the species its name.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid harsh direct sun, which can damage the iridescent leaf surface.
  • Temperature: 57–75°F (14–24°C); an intermediate to warm grower with good tolerance for mild temperature swings.
  • Humidity: 75–90%; maintain high ambient moisture with adequate air movement to prevent rot.
  • Watering: Water regularly to keep roots evenly moist; avoid prolonged dryness between waterings.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork bark or in a small pot with fine sphagnum moss. Its compact size and ornamental silvery foliage make it well suited for a well-ventilated terrarium. Ships bare root, well-established.
