Information

Description

Description

A remarkably architectural miniature species native to Ecuador. It produces successive flowers on slender pendant peduncles with lateral sepals fully fused into a closed ovoid-lanceolate capsule-like structure with prominent longitudinal veins and a finely granular iridescent surface, a small erect dorsal sepal at the apex, and bilobed petals with a labellum visible through the central opening.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 60–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can damage the delicate foliage.
  • Temperature: 50–65°F (10–18°C); a Cool grower that thrives in stable, cool conditions with consistent air movement.
  • Humidity: 80–95%; maintain high humidity at all times — ideal for cool terrarium setups.
  • Watering: Water frequently to keep the medium evenly moist; never allow the fine roots to dry out completely between waterings.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork or in a small net pot with fine sphagnum moss. Its uniquely closed capsule-like floral structure makes it one of the most architecturally distinctive Lepanthes for terrarium culture. Plants are shipped bare root and well-established.
