Description

Description

A captivating species native to Ecuador, featuring deeply ribbed, conical pseudobulbs that support elegant, heavily veined foliage. The remarkable, completely pendulous inflorescences carry numerous waxy, upside-down flowers that release a distinctive fragrance to entice any collector.

  • Light: Medium indirect light with 50–60% shade cloth; protect the plicate foliage from direct afternoon sun.
  • Temperature: 60–90Β°F (16–32Β°C); an adaptable intermediate to warm grower that thrives in stable environments.
  • Humidity: 70–85%; high atmospheric humidity is essential to encourage strong root development and flawless flower production.
  • Watering: Water heavily during active growth to keep the medium evenly moist, ensuring excellent drainage so the roots never stagnate.

Additional Notes

Growing in a hanging slatted basket allows its cascading flower spikes to emerge naturally from the base of the plant. Ships bare root, well established, and should be gently rehydrated at an intermediate temperature before final potting or basket placement upon arrival.
