Information

Description

Description

Sphyrospermum kakabadseae is a small, epiphytic or terrestrial shrub in the Ericaceae family, native to the Andean cloud forests. The species was described by the Ecuagenera research team and requires Intermediate-Cool conditions.

  • Light: Provide bright, filtered light, similar to a canopy setting. Intense direct sunlight must be strictly avoided to prevent leaf burn.
  • Temperature: It requires Intermediate-Cool conditions with significant daily temperature drops. The ideal range is 55-75°F (13-24°C).
  • Humidity: High ambient humidity (70-90%) is essential to replicate its misty habitat. Consistent air movement is necessary to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Keep the potting medium constantly moist; never allow it to be saturated or waterlogged. Use a highly porous, well-draining substrate to ensure root aeration.

Additional Notes

Flowers are small and often bell-shaped, followed by decorative, subglobose, berry-like fruits, characteristic of the Sphyrospermum genus.
