Information

Description

Description

A compact, clumping species from Andean cloud forests, producing dozens of small flowers simultaneously on short ramicauls at foliage level. Each triangular bloom features open, spreading sepals with a finely papillose surface texture and slender, curved tails — a floriferous species that creates a striking carpet of blooms at peak flowering.

  • Light: 70–80% shade cloth; bright indirect light. Avoid direct sun, which scorches the leaves.
  • Temperature: 50–65°F (10–18°C) — Cool grower. A consistent day-to-night temperature drop helps trigger blooming; avoid prolonged exposure above 70°F (21°C).
  • Humidity: 80–90%. Maintain strong air circulation to prevent fungal rot at the crown and roots.
  • Watering: 2–3 times per week; keep roots evenly moist at all times. No pseudobulbs — cannot tolerate drying out. Use soft, low-mineral water when possible.

Additional Notes

Grown and propagated by Ecuagenera in the highlands of Ecuador. A rewarding species for cool growers — mature clumps in full bloom are a spectacular sight. Shipped bare root, well-established.
